Every spring, my daughter (many of whose photos appear elsewhere on this site) and I make a 24-hour trip to see the great Sandhill Crane migration as it passes through Nebraska. 600,000 of these 4-foot-tall birds spend several weeks grazing in the corn fields and sleeping on the Platte River's sand bars, bulking up for the rest of their northward migration. It's quite a sight, and one that people come from all over the world specifically to witness.
Within this set, the images whose names begin with "C7D_" were made by my daughter (then 15 years old).
The Lincoln Christian Crusaders battled the Falls City Tigers on the varsity football gridiron at Seacrest Field. This was the second round of the state playoffs, and a rematch of the final regular season game two weeks prior. LCS won the game 30-14.
The LCS varsity football team had perhaps its best season to date in 2013, earning a 7-1 regular season record and a #2 seed in the Nebraska class C-1 playoffs.
Portraits of two Cockatiels, Choco and Goldie. This shoot was done in the style of Joel Sartore's Photo Ark (formerly known as the Biodiversity Project).
I love the competition, camaraderie, and excitement that occurs in sports. I love capturing the critical action and behind-the-scenes moments, whether it's YMCA micro-soccer, a celebrity golf tournament, or the national BMX championship. I also love creating dramatic action portraits of athletes. Please contact me to discuss the details of your next event!
